Class Descriptions
Once you complete Course 1, You can take Course's 3-4 in any order you like.
Course 1-Decorating Basics
In this course, students will learn the basics of cake decorating, including how to bake a great cake, see how to make and color icing, and learn the best way to ice the cake.
Techniques include:
Stars, Drop Flowers, Rosettes, Dimensional decorating, Shells, Leaves, Filling and icing a Cupcake, Guidelines for elementary cake design, Printing/Writing, Ribbon Roses, and the piping gel Pattern Transfer.
Course 2- Flowers and Cake Design
In this course, students will learn/discuss basic principals of cake design, making royal icing, and guidelines for flower arrangements.
Techniques:
Royal icing flowers: Rosebud, Apple Blossom, Primrose, Daffodil, Violet, Lily, Wilton Rose; Buttercream techniques: Reverse Shell, Basketweave
Course 3-Gumpaste and Fondant
In this course, students will learn to create hand-shaped flowers, beautiful borders, and bold accents using easy-to-shape gum paste and fondant.
Topics include gum paste and fondant 101, tinting gum paste and fondant, basic principles of floral cake design, covering a cake or cake board with fondant, elements of fondant cake design, and creating geometric designs using cut-outs, overlays and inlays.
Techniques:
Bow, Mum, Rose & Rosebud, Carnation, Calla Lily, Daisy, Cut-Outs, Overlays & Inlays, Eyelet, Ruffle and Ball borders.
